Mamma Mia – Movie Review
The devil comes out of her Prada as a shabbily dressed single mother who has raised her daughter all alone on a beautiful island of Greece. The story of a young bride-to-be searching for her father has been nicely woven around all of the ABBA’s hit songs.
Donna (Meryl Streep) runs a tourist villa, Donna Villa, along with her daughter Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) who is getting married soon to Sky (Dominic Cooper).
Sophie desperately wants to walk down the aisle on her father’s arm. In her quest to find out who he might be, she stumbles upon her mom’s old diary and ends up inviting three possible men to the wedding- Sam (Pierce Brosnan), Bill (Stellan Skarsgard) and Harry (Colin Firth) from out of her mother’s past!! And then starts the fun-frolic-some musical fantasy trip down the aisle, which will be cherished by all age groups.
Meryl Streep gets better with age, as she injects a powerful performance in the movie and looks fabulous too. She is the ‘Dancing Queen’, who steals the show.
Supporting her are her two crazy best friends, Tanya (Christine Baranski) and Rosie (Julie Walters), who have come to join in the wedding fun but have to act as Donna’s support too, as she is quite taken aback after seeing her three ex-boyfriends at the wedding.
It is always a delight to watch Pierce Brosnan on screen, and he does full justice to his character, though he doesn’t impress much with his singing.
Overall, Mamma Mia is bound to dance its way to the box-offices. If ABBA is the music for your ears, you should not miss this one.
Singh Is Kinng movie review
First things first, if you are looking out for some intelligent cinema, please stay out of it. Singh is Kinng for hardcore entertainers. The ‘Welcome’ gang (Anees Bazmi, Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif and Vipul Shah) are back with a bang to give us a complete entertainer.
Happy Singh (Akshay Kumar) is a happy go lucky guy (he feeds popcorns to his goat), who loves to help out people in his village, but ends up creating serious troubles for them. To get rid of him the villagers send him to Australia in search of Lakhan (Sonu Sood) who is the king of the underworld in Australia. And as the twist in the tale happens, Happy becomes the king and converts all the king’s (lakhan) bad men to good men and gets all of them back to Punjab. During this entire journey, he also stumbles on his lady love Sonia (Katrina Kaif).
A straightforward story, with the perfect comic timing. The little dosages of emotions and action make the movie a perfect Indian masala movie. The beautiful locations of Egypt and Australia are awe-inspiring.
Though I wouldn’t give any marks for originality. Want to know which movie ‘Singh Is Kinng’ has been copied from? Search for the Jackie Chan’s movie miracle.

Akshay is the soul of the movie. The movie will fall apart if it’s Akshay-less. So let’s stand up and make way for the newest king of Bollywood.

Aishwarya Rai
Aishwarya Rai was born on 1st November 1973 in Mangalore, Karnataka.
Aishwarya Rai comes from a family of sailors. Her father Krishnaraj Rai and brother Aditya Rai, both belong to the Merchant Navy.
If not an actress, Aishwarya Rai would’ve been an architect. She enrolled for the architecture course in LS Raheja College in Mumbai.
Aishwarya Rai speaks six languages. She is fluent in English, Hindi, Tamil, Tulu, Kannada and Marathi.
Aishwarya Rai was crowned Miss World in the year 1994. Her question to glory asked by Katherine Kelly Lange was, “What qualities should Miss World 1994 embody?” Aishwarya’s answer to her questions was, “The Miss World’s that you’ve had up to date are proof enough, that they had compassion, compassion for the underprivileged… Not only for those who had status and stature, but who can look beyond barriers that man has set up for ourselves of nationality, color, we have to look beyond that, and that will make a true Miss World, a true person, a real person.”
Contrary to popular belief, Aishwarya Rai did not make her film debut in the Hindi film Aur Pyar Ho Gaya. She debuted in Mani Ratnam’s Tamil film Iruvar.

Oops! After Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan has now got one more foe in tinsel town. The latest is none other than one-time good friend Salman Khan.
In fact, a Clash seemed to be imminent immediately after it came to be known that both Saawariya and Om Shanti Om were to be released at the same time. King Khan had even gone ahead and announced that if there was any competition, he would be sure to come out on top. That he was successful is evident from the fact that Om Shanti Om won the ‘Diwali’ battle, grossing double of what Saawariya managed to.
Last year too, during Diwali, these two Bollywood powerhouses had clashed at the Box office, with the release of Shah Rukh Khan’s Don and and Salman Khan’s Jaan e man, and Mr. Khan had won out at that time as well.
It seems that Bollywood’s Badhshah has now got Salman fuming, with the latter digging up some old graves, saying that Baazigar had first been offered to him, but he had rejected it as he had not been willing to take on the role of a negative character at that stage of his career. So, eventually, the role had fallen in Shah Rukh’s lap and had allowed him to prove his mettle. And the rest is history.
Our Sallu bhai adds, “If I had done Baazigar then there would be no Mannat standing in the bandstand today.” (‘Mannat’ is the name of SRK’s bungalow).
And he just doesn’t stop there. He also says that Shah Rukh’s role in the blockbuster Chak De India had first been offered to him. But he had rejected it since he had a problem with the movie’s title as it contained the name ‘India’ and he had not wanted to offend any of his fans in neighbouring countries.

Welcome- Story
Uday Shetty (Nana Patekar), Majnu (Anil Kapoor) and their boss, Sikander (Feroz Khan), three Hong Kong-based serio-comic mobsters, are keen to get their sister Sanjana (Katrina Kaif) married into a respectable family.
Uday, upon a chance meeting with a handsome bachelor, Rajiv (Akshay Kumar), is convinced that the latter would be an appropriate match for Sanjana.
However, Rajiv’s uncle, Dr. Ghunghroo (Paresh Rawal) does not approve of his nephew’s association with a dubious family.
Meanwhile, Sanjana, unaware of her brothers’ contrivances, meets Rajiv on a cruise and the two fall in love.
She has the acceptance of Dr. Ghunghroo, who doesn’t realize that she is the sister of the Mafia.
When Dr. Ghunghroo realizes his faux pas he tries escaping the fury of the brothers.
Hilarity ensues as each of the diametrically different brothers begins engaging in smart and engagingly comic stunts to get the uncle to agree to the alliance.
This fall-down funny comedy takes another turn when a stunning bomb (Mallika Sherawat) who claims to be Rajiv’s fiancee shows up on the scene and adds to the commotion and mayhem.
Om Shanti Om- Movie Review
They were all over– Internet, news channel, tv shows..almost everywhere..just for the promotion of their movie-Om Shanti Om..Shah Rukh on screen after block buster hit Chak De India, Farah’s Khan;s second movie as director after Main Hoon Na..There is a lot of hype built around the movie..but..but..but..does it live up to the expectations?
Farah Khan thinks that whatever she combines with Shah Rukh Khan could be sold..Well, history depicts that it does..(Remember, Main Hoon Na?)
Movie starts with 70s era where Om(Shah Rukh Khan) is a juniour artiste who wants to make it big in Bollywood. And encouraging him are his friend Pappu (Shreyas Talpade) and his mother (Kirron Kher) who was also a juniour artiste. Om loves the superstar Shantipriya (Deepika Padukone) and is also able to be friends with her..But he is heart broken when he gets to know that Shanti is already married to a renowned producer Mehra (Arjun Rampal) who wants to keep their marriage under wraps as a married heroine is not accepted in tinsel town. But he burns her alive when he discovers Shanti is pregnant. Om is killed too while rescuing her.
Shah Rukh is reborn as Om (what a co incidence!) to a superstar and eventually becomes a superstar later-Om Kapoor a.k.a O.K. and as he gets all his memory back abruptly, he decides to take his revenge by killing Arjun Rampal..and in his search of finding a look alike of Deepika Padukone(Sandy), he actually finds a girl who looks exactly like her (can you beat that!!) And then starts the process of converting Sandy into Shantipriya, and as Rampal realises she is just a look alike, and Om’s plan fails, the ghost of Shanti comes and takes the revenge..
I wonder, if Farah watched Karz and few Ramsay brother movies before scripting down Om Shanti Om..
The movie before interval is quite fine, i.e. the era of 70s where Shah Rukh is required to overact, and he has done it quite well. The bonding between him and Shreyas has come out really well onscreen. The special effects are quite cool where Deepika is shown dancing with yesterheroes like Sunil Dutt and Jeetendra. But after interval when Shah Rukh plots his revenge, the movie gets bit boring, and there are quite a few loose ends, like how he gets his memory abruplty one fine day..
Performance wise SRK rocks as usual(He was the main reason for me to watch the premiere show of the movie). Deepika is quite promising and is graceful as she portrays Hema Malini in the first half but doesn’t quite impress as Sandy in the second half. Shreyas Talpade has come a long way in this movie, and Arjun is quite satisfactory in a negative role.
Music be Vishal-Shekhar is pleasant to ears. ‘Deewangi Deewangi; was definitely a treat for eyes to watch 31 stars together in a frame of 6 minutes. Though there was no need of Dard-e-disco in the movie, but SRK had to show his 6 pack abs 
All in all, a masala entertainer, definitely not for those who are looking for some meaningful cinema. Leave your brains behind home, and enjoy the saga of ‘Om Shanti Om’
